FAMILIES living near a bus depot in Swindon have called for an end to late-night noise.
They claim the Stagecoach site in Eastcott Road, Old Town, causes noise and pollution that keeps them up at night.
And although a company spokesman said it was trying to minimise the noise impact, it also claimed it wants to extend the bus cleaning hours from 10pm until 11pm.
Neighbour Stuart Hibbert said he had been affected by noise, light pollution and fumes.
He said: “I have had to change bedrooms because of the effect of this depot.
“We are calling a meeting to bring the community together and to show the local councillor and MP Anne Snelgrove that this is a problem in the area.”
Stagecoach hopes to wash its buses until 11pm from Monday to Friday and to be permitted to use the steam cleaner from 8am until 10pm.
It said it had also applied to keep the lights on during these activities for health and safety reasons.
A bus depot has operated at the Eastcott Road site for 50 years.
The meeting is to take place today at 7pm at 12a South Street.

This is clearly a joke story - if buses were washed 5 days a week, they surely wouldnt smell like P155! Or that is just the drivers?
