A SERIES of burglaries in Grange Park and Westlea have prompted police to warn householders to keep their property safe.

Over a two-week period there have been five burglaries all taking place between midnight and 4am. Police said entry has been made via insecurities on the houses.

Property taken has often included computer equipment, lap tops, televisions and debit cards.

Swindon crime reduction officer PC Steve Fletcher said: “Becoming a victim of crime is an upsetting experience and I would urge residents to take extra care in securing their home at all times.

“Remove the opportunity for an opportunist burglar, take time to secure doors and windows when leaving your home, and again when retiring for bed.”

Other advice includes checking all doors and windows are locked, making sure that house keys and car keys are out of sight or reach of doors and windows and for a visible burglar alarm to be installed.

Anyone with information in relation to the recent incidents is asked to contact police on 0845 408 7000 or crime stoppers, where information can be left anonymously if they wish, on 0800 555 111.
