SWINDON Council is looking for volunteers for its Advocacy and Activity Buddy Scheme, aimed at getting more disabled, elderly and those with low self-esteem into sport.
The scheme was officially launched by Swindon Council at the County Ground in January and links regular sports facility users with people who would like to get more involved in sport but lack in self-confidence.
Buddies are volunteers already involved in sports or classes who would like to help motivate someone else to get active. They will not be expected to lift, carry or transfer disabled users and they do not need to provide transport or personal care.
Anyone can volunteer to be a part of the buddy scheme, providing they are over 16 years of age, by calling 01793 617782.
