EVERYTHING came together in perfect harmony for the first day of this year’s Swindon Music Festival.
The competition, which is now in its 101st year, kicked off at Christ Church, in Old Town, yesterday with a number of classes including church organ, sacred song and adult choirs.
“It got off to an excellent start and the standard was very high for the junior choirs,” said festival vice-chairwoman Sheila Marcer.
“The winners were Ashbury with Compton Beauchamp Church Of England School with 86 marks. They also won the AJ May Trophy.”
Today’s sessions take place at the Arts Centre from 1.30pm.
Classes include recorder solos, piano duets, violin solos and Victorian or Edwardian parlour songs, among others.
Tickets for the daytime sessions cost £1, evening sessions £2, championship session £4 and £5 for the the championship concert. Tickets are available on the door or call 01793 614837.
The programme is now available priced at £2 from the Arts Centre, Holmes Music in Faringdon Road and Brian Taylor Music, in the High Street, Wootton Bassett. For information on the festival visit www.swindonmusicfestival.co.uk.
