DISNEY was brought to Swindon with the help of nursery children.

The Leapfrog Day Nursery, in Highdown Way, in St Andrew’s Ridge, organised a Mickey Mouse-themed week called A World Of Make Believe to celebrate Swindon’s linking with Walt Disney, in Florida, in February.

It involved 126 children aged between six months and four.

The theme, which has been running all week and ends today, encouraged children to come to nursery dressed as their favourite Disney characters.

The nursery was also decorated throughout in various Disney themes such as Under The Sea, Winnie The Pooh’s Enchanted Garden and Mickey’s Clubhouse.

Yesterday children brought in their favourite Disney stories, which were then read to them by staff. Both children and parents took part in the day.

Nursery manager Niki Eyles said: “When the news was announced that Swindon had been chosen as the town to be twinned with Walt Disney we just knew we had to do something spectacular to celebrate.

“It is exciting for everyone, especially the children.

“Everyone has had a fantastic time this week and the children have thoroughly enjoyed the nursery being a magical world of their favourite characters.”
