THE Swindon branch of the British National Party has condemned the teenager who daubed racist graffiti on the Broad Street mosque and the town's Sikh temple.

Michael Matthews, 17, of Helton Road, Park North, was jailed for a year after being handed a two-year detention and training order at Swindon Crown Court on Friday.

Matthews was caught by a covert police camera spraying the words "Paki out now" with a swastika on the wall of the Broad Street mosque in October last year before setting light to a window.

He also accepted spraying racist graffiti on the Sikh temple in Kembrey Street.

But Mark Bullock, of the Swindon branch of the BNP, He said: "We don't know anything about him.

"We just want to say that justice has been done and he deserves to be locked up for this attack on the Muslim community."
