TWO teenagers were subjected to a vicious assault in Wootton Bassett.

Stuart Wicks and Nicky Millard, both 18, were walking into town when they were set upon by a gang of three.

Police believe the incident was part of an ongoing feud in the town.

Stuart lost two of his front teeth during the attack.

He believes he was targeted because he is friends with someone caught up in the feud.

Stuart, of Queens Road, said: "I'm still feeling a bit rough and I can't eat properly.

"It's disgusting. There's been a feud going on for ages."

The attack happened shortly after 9pm on Wednesday at the junction of The Rosary and Tinkers Field.

Stuart said: "I heard footsteps behind us and Nicky took a smack to the face.

"Then they started laying into him on the floor, stamping on him and kicking him.

"I pulled one off and told them to lay off and then one smacked me in the face. They were punching me in the face and I went down on the floor.

"They ran off that's when I noticed my two bottom front teeth had gone.

"I was spitting blood and I started looking for the teeth. One was in a bush and the other was in a puddle of blood on the pavement.

"The hospital said they had been out too long and there is nothing they can do."

Police have arrested two local men and are currently looking for a third.

PC Hayley Tarling, of Wootton Bassett police, said Nicky had also been badly assaulted.

She said: "He has bruises and grazes to his head and a black eye and we believe he has cracked ribs. Two men were arrested in connection with the assaults and are now on police bail.

"There was quite a lot of blood at the scene. It seems the assault was premeditated as they appeared to know where their victims would be. There has been an ongoing feud but on that night nothing had happened to suggest why it kicked off."

Wootton Bassett police are keen to hear from witnesses to the incident and information on the identity of the third attacker.

Anyone with such information should call 0845 408 7000.
