Charity dancing Pole Jam

Charity dancing Pole Jam Charity dancing Pole Jam

A Pole Jam to mark national Pole Dance Day takes place in Swindon on May Day in aid of Gynae C charity.

The Pole Jam is hosted by Emily Smith from Emily’s Pole Fitness at The Vic in Old Town, Swindon, from noon to 4pm.

Emily said: “Anyone can give pole dancing a go. It’s not just about feeling sexy, it’s about having fun and achieving things you thought weren’t possible, while keeping fit.’’ A Pole Jam is for experienced pole dancers, beginners and anyone interested in keeping fit to get together and have a go.

On May 1, Emily will be on hand to answer any questions and demonstrate a spin or two on the pole.

Emily’s mother Helen Jackson is heavily involved with the Gynae C charity, which supports women with Gynaecological Cancer.

“Gynae C was set up by my wonderful mother, who I find a great inspiration. She has been through so much and has the heart and determination to help others in need,’’ said Emily.

This will be the second UK Pole Dancing Day. It is run by Equity, the performers’ union.

It aims to encourage people to look at pole dancing not purely as the preserve of the gentlemen’s clubs but as a good way of keeping fit for women of any shape, size and fitness level.

The fitness instructor has been teaching pole dance for three years. Emily said: “My aim is to pass everything I know on to others so they can experience how rewarding and exciting pole dancing for fitness can be.’’ For more details of Emily’s Pole Fitness which is approved by the Pole Dancing Community, visit www.emilyspolefitness.co.uk or call 07833 192079.

Prostitution? Lap dancing? Where in the article does it say anything about that? These pole jams are about leisure and fitness, and the proceeds of which go to charity. The leisure industry is huge and ever expanding and alternative forms of fitness are all the rage - and this includes polefitness. The reason there is a national pole dance day, is to promote pole fitness as a way of keeping trim and healthy though improved fitness and core-stability. It also allows for charity-fitness events up and down the country where money can be raised for good causes, whilst this up and coming form of fitness is promoted!

'real-life' & 'Captain Sensible', your comments made me laugh, did either of you actually read the article or did you just see 'Pole Dancing'... The whole point of this event was to show people what pole dancing for FITNESS is all about and raise money for a good cause at the same time. I take great pride in what I do and have only taught pole dancing for fitness. I have never been a stripper or a prostitute. It's a shame how small minded some people still are about pole dancing for fitness. This is precisely the reason why events like these are held to help raise awareness of pole dancing as a legitimate dance form and exercise regime.
