We published a report on 29th June about the sentencing of primary school teacher Anthony Talbot for sex offences against a child.
He admitted charges of indecent assault between 1978 and 1981, but information received by us from the court that he had also admitted 11 charges of rape was incorrect. Mr Talbot in fact pleaded not guilty to rape. The charges were not dismissed, but the court ordered that they should lie on Mr Talbot’s file.
We are sorry that readers have been misled by the court’s mistaken information.
