EVEN property gurus Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer couldn’t wave their magic wand and create a sale for a family in Wootton Bassett.

But, despite now being on the market for nine months, business couple Michelle and Roland Wallace now hope the appearance of their home on Location Location Location next week will do the trick.

The couple, children Victoria, 10, Joe, eight, two dogs and a pony have outgrown the £375,000 Black Dog Cottages since taking on Bulldog Shed and Fencing eight years ago.

But despite a steady flow of potential buyers the couple have yet to find anyone to take it off their hands.

“But then the programme researchers from Channel Four called us to ask if they could bring a couple round and film,” said Michelle, 41.

“They were here for three days filming and re-filming – and taking all our photographs down.

“One day they called at 8.30am and told me they’d be there to film at 9am so I was thinking ‘Oh my God, I need to make all the beds’.

“It was a bit hectic sometimes because we work from home so we had to keep out of the way when Phil and Kirstie were there filming.”

The Location Location Location team went through the house, adjusting furniture, removing personal photographs and making it show-ready. But when it came to the crunch the potential buyers changed their mind.

Michelle said: “We were definitely top of the couple’s list but in the end they didn’t choose us.

“It was a shame because we really hoped that would be our chance to move the business to bigger premises, so we are hoping that someone watching the programme will get in contact when they see it.”

After finding the perfect location for the booming business, just a quarter of a mile along the A3102 at The Hillocks, Michelle and Roland, 43, put their property on the market last October.

“We have a four bedroom house, a studio and several outbuildings,” said Michelle.

“But we have been fortunate to see the business really grow and eventually it got to the point last year when we realised we really did need more space.

“Being on Location, Location Location was a real experience but hopefully it’ll be just what we need to get the right buyer.”

Black Dog Cottages will feature on Channel Four’s Location Location Location programme at 8pm on Thursday, July 15.
