Alan Mosca, one of the sixties sensations The Dreamers, is compering this year’s grand final of Swindon Talent ’10.

Freddie and The Dreamers shot into the UK charts with hits such as You Were Made For Me and I’m Telling You Now. The band started out as backing band for the crazy antics of the diminutive Freddie Garrity but then evolved into The Dreamers and have now been rocking ‘n’ rolling for more than 40 years.

Alan was with the band when they toured Europe and Australia and was on board for the British Invasion Tour of America Part 2 performing in Madison Square Gardens and New York along with The Searchers and Gerry and the Pacemakers.

The musician also appeared on various TV shows including Surprise Surprise, Noel Edmonds and Time Of Your Life.

On Sunday August 8 Alan will tread the boards of the Wyvern Theatre introducing 18 up and coming entertainers as they battle it out for the top slot.

Tickets are going fast for Swindon Talent ’10, which is run by the Swindon Advertiser, Swindon 105.5 community radio, the Arts Centre and the Wyvern Theatre.

Dave King, editor of the Swindon Advertiser, said: “We are delighted with the great response to Swindon Talent this year and the extremely high standard of entries proves once again that Swindon is anything but a cultural desert in fact it is an oasis of the arts. We are pleased to be able to provide a platform to showcase these artists.’’ A number of acts have gone on to make a career out of show business since appearing in previous Swindon Talent contests, including Samantha Maybee, who has become a professional singer about to record her debut single, and Jade Wilkinson, last year’s winner, who has recently won the Over 17 section at Yates’s Reach For The Stars competition. She also supported X Factor’s Same Difference and Rachel Adedeji in the Town Gardens this summer.

Celebrated concert pianist Nicholas McCarthy is lending his support by performing at the finals. The pianist, who was born with only one hand, is an inspiration to all aspiring musicians as he refuses to let his disability stop his dreams coming true.
