A LORRY has hit Wootton Bassett Road bridge.

The incident happened at approximately 7.50am. The heavy goods vehicle collided with the rail bridge on the side of the road heading into Swindon.

The vehicle has exitted the bridge but its load, Ready Brek, has been shed on to the road and police say it will take a while to clear up.

Police are at the scene and have closed one lane. Eye-witnesses say traffic is building up and motorists should expect delays.

Where possible, drivers should use an alternative route.
