Tap dancers are attempting to dance their way into a world record and raise money for charity.
Joanne Greenhalgh, who runs her own tap class will be leading the Tapathon at noon on Sunday in Queens Drive Methodist Church Hall, in Swindon, dancing to Mambo No 5 by Lou Bega.
“All my own dancers are taking part but anyone with any tap ability is welcome. The same five-minute routine will be performed all over the country at exactly midday. We will be teaching the routine from 11am in the hall,’’ she said.
Hundreds of dance schools from all over the UK are taking part in the Performers’ Project Tapathon organised by the International Dance Teachers Association with the aim of getting into the Guinness Book Of Records.
The dancers are also hoping to raise money for Children In Need by donating to the charity from the sale of Tapathon Event 2010 T-shirts.
