Ambulance crews will be able reach homes despite extreme weather conditions, people are being told.
Great Western Ambulance Service is reassuring people in the region that it is well prepared if the severe weather heads into Wiltshire.
Tim Stockings, the ambulance service’s associate director of field operations, said: “We have robust, well-advanced plans in place to deal with whatever the elements throw at us in the coming weeks.”
Since last winter, GWAS has acquired several 4x4 vehicles and continues to work closely with voluntary organisations such as St John Ambulance and the Red Cross to ensure it has the right vehicles ready to respond to patients and get frontline staff from home to an ambulance station.
