SECURITY at RAF Lyneham has been breached on two separate occasions in the last three years, the Ministry of Defence has said.
Data released to the Swindon Advertiser following a Freedom Of Information request shows that several people have gained access without official authorisation.
In March 2009, a taxi carrying four service personnel drove on to the base rather than dropping passengers off at the gate. The taxi was on the station for 12 minutes.
The driver was informed of acceptable areas as he left.
In May, a man on a mobility scooter refused to stop at the main gate when asked to by officials.
He was followed to the youth club where RAF police escorted him from the station. Details of the incident were passed to the MoD Police to follow up.
Prosecution for breach of security at an RAF base is discretionary and the MoD does not state whether such action was taken over these breaches.
The relevant law relating to breaches depends on the individual circumstances. However, under the Official Secrets Act 1911, the maximum sentence is 14 years’ imprisonment.
