THE hunt for Sian over the last five days has resembled the disappearance of architect Jo Yeates.

The 25-year-old, of Bristol, disappeared on December 17 after going out for Christmas drinks with a group of her colleagues.

Her boyfriend, Greg Reardon, reported her missing after he returned to Bristol two days later following a weekend visiting family in Sheffield.

CCTV footage showed her buying a pizza and two bottles of cider on her way back to her Clifton flat – however the pizza and its wrappings were never found and only one bottle of cider had been drunk.

Miss Yeates’ keys and coat were also found inside the flat.

Just as with Sian, Facebook groups were created with members of the public from across the country leaving messages hoping for her safe return.

Thousands of people joined groups, and newspapers and broadcasters all over the country covered the case.

Eight days later, on Christmas Day, Miss Yeates’ body was found on a verge in Longwood Lane, Failand, North Somerset. A post-mortem examination revealed she had been strangled.

Her landlord, 66-year-old Chris Jefferies, was arrested on December 30 and questioned for three days on suspicion of murder before being released on bail.

The case then took a dramatic turn when the 25-year-old’s neighbour, 32-year-old Dutch national Vincent Tabak, was arrested and charged with her murder on January 20.

A plea and case management hearing was scheduled for May 4 with a provisional trial date of October 4.
