A 19-YEAR-OLD woman burgled a pub in Lechlade after she was threatened with a knife, magistrates heard.

Rebecca Godden, of Shaw, Swindon, admitted burgling the Trout Inn, in Lechlade, on May 30.

She also pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to answer bail on July 11.

Prosecutor Elizabeth Thomas said: “One hundred packets of cigarettes had been stolen.”

After a search was made of the pub, it was discovered a payphone had been forced and £25 cash stolen. A handbag containing £18 cash and credit cards was also missing, along with a bunch of keys to the pub doors, said Mrs Thomas.

Defending, Con Fernandes said: “Miss Godden met up with a drugs dealer and he claimed her boyfriend owed him a substantial amount of money. One evening when her boyfriend wasn’t there he held a knife to her throat and demanded she accompany him to commit the burglary.”
