A TEENAGER is hoping to be crowned a beauty queen when she takes to the catwalk for the finals of Miss Teen Earth.

Jade Jones, of Lawns, will be representing Swindon in the country-wide contest to find England's most green and glam teen to become a role model for future generations.

The 13-year-old Ridgeway School pupil will be interviewed by judges and model outfits she has designed herself at the contest held in Birmingham, in September.

“I have been wanting to do modelling for a while and I thought if I enter the competition it would be a foot in the door,” she said.

“My friends think it is really cool, they think I might win.”

She entered by attending a photoshoot, where she was picked to represent Swindon.

The final will see her strut her stuff in four outfits, including a green recycled dress and a T-shirt with an eco-friendly logo.

“I am looking forward to the catwalk and designing the clothes. I’m also looking forward to meeting the other contestants,” she said.

Jade must also raise funds for Miss Earth's community project, 'Girls4Trees', which helps organisations and school's to pay for street clean-ups and community projects.

Miss Teen Earth is the youth version of Miss Earth. Contestants must have a strong knowledge of their country’s culture and environment to fulfil the ideals of the competition.

The winner will become a role model for the younger generation, star in environmental campaigns across the UK and win a goodie bag of beauty products.

“It would be nice to be a role model, I am looking forward to the competition,” she said.

In the run up to the final Jade is asking for companies and organisation who would like her to participate in any community events to contact Miss Earth on 08715 59 42 42 or email info@missearthgirls.co.uk for the attention of Jade Jones.
