So far in Paolo Di Canio’s reign as manager we’ve seen a player bust up, him sent to the stands, involved in touchline scuffles and making international news, and that’s only 10 games into his time at Swindon, and personally I’m loving it and wouldn’t change a thing!

Last Saturday’s game at home to Southend showed how settled the first team have now become, the players now look to have learnt each others game and that new understanding is the main reason for the teams change in results.

After an early injury to Oliver Risser Jonathan Smith who joined the club in the summer from York came back into the team and did a great job alongside Simon Ferry, and his fantastic strike will be one that lives long in the memory.

With nearly all our defenders out injured or suspended Joe Devera had to come into the team and show he deserves his first team spot, and I think it was by far his best performance.

His job was also made harder with a midfielder having to partner him for most of the game but Alan McCormack came in and done a good job.

If anyone was at the County Ground 7th December last year Tuesday nights win would of healed some old footballing wounds.

Last December we hosted Crawley in an F.A Cup replay, and I remember it being not only an awful Swindon performance and Crawley winning the game in the 118th minute but being the coldest game I’ve ever been to!

Again the Paolo Di Canio factor in the fixture drew a lot of attention especially from Crawley boss Steve Evans.

Who made some comments to try and play mind games with Di Canio but after Town’s 3-0 win I don’t think he’ll be trying that again in the reverse fixture next February.

The game itself saw another good Swindon performance and again more goals from our Algerian goal machine Mehdi Kerrouche.

After trying different striking partnership’s this season Kerrouche and Connell seems to be the best fit so far with both strikers scoring 3 league goals, and with Magera coming back from injury they’ll have good competition for their starting places.

This Saturday the club makes its first visit to the Pirelli Stadium to take on 7th placed Burton Albion.

In fact this is the first time ever that the two teams have met in any competition.

So far this season Burton have had a good start and have one of the leagues top goal scorers in Justin Richards who has scored 7 in 8 games for his new club, and also have a top goalkeeper in Ross Atkins.

With both teams in good form it should be a close game but with Town having the better midfield overall I expect us to leave Staffordshire with all the points.
