Over Town’s 131-year history there are two words you don’t normally see together.

Consistency and Swindon Town have never really met.

Being the first club to go from the Premier League to League Two and we all remember the ‘bobble’ that cost us a possible place in the Championship and 12 months later we find ourselves as a League Two club.

Unfortunately the clubs inability to be consistent managed to rub off on the Town players during the second half last Saturday at the County Ground.

When you play teams like Hereford you think ‘3 points no problem’, I wrote here last week we should just concentrate on improving are goal difference thinking a victory should be inevitable.

But as fans we are allowed to do that and get away with it, but that same mindset got into the Swindon players during the 2nd half, which cost us two valuable points.

First half Alan McCormack and Joe Devera put in a solid performance at the back and it looked like a stroke of genius from the manager to play them together.

Even though the three goals we conceded weren’t entirely their fault, the 2nd goal was shockingly bad marking from the pair.

I desperately hope we see the towering presence of Aden Flint return this weekend.

But despite the result there were some positives, Jonathan Smith and Simon Ferry looked excellent as a partnership in central midfield during the first half and Smiths early exit due to injury was when it started to unravel for Town.

Again Mehdi Kerrouche shone up front alongside loanee Jake Jervis, both put in a good performance but as I’ve said in the past I’d still prefer to see Alan Connell partner Kerrouche going into the next couple of games.

Yesterday we saw Paolo Di Canio again add to his squad with the loan signing of winger/striker Cristian Montano.

Since turning professional last summer Cristian has had some Football League experience when he joined Notts County earlier this season playing 11 times and scoring 4 goals.

At the time of writing Goalkeeper Wes Foderingham is expected to join on loan from Crystal Palace as cover for the injured Phil Smith, but that deal has yet to be confirmed by the club.

In the next couple of weeks Town have two massive games coming up that could determine how this season looks in May, as Paul Caddis said these away games are like ‘cup finals’ for the club.

Firstly Accrington Stanley away this Saturday, then a trip to the other end of the country to play bottom side Plymouth.

Since joining the Football League in 2006 Stanley haven’t overly impressed until last season when they managed a 5th placed finish.

With them only a point behind Town and sitting in 16th position Town could find themselves swapping places with Stanley if we don’t improve are poor away form starting this Saturday.
