After an impressive run of three league wins in a row Town’s promotion chase was slightly derailed by a dogged and well-organised Bradford side last Saturday.

After the Bantams went down to ten men the game was going to go one way or the other, a mauling by Town or the away team would forget about attacking and just play with 9 men behind the ball.

As you can guess they took option two and gained a point, Town managed to create plenty of chances but was unable to make that killer ball or get a shot away.

It was a disappointing result but not the awful performance that some people were making it out to be, trust me, just watch any of last season.

Again the back four were the stand out performers on the day, Alan McCormack and Aden Flint have both forged a great understanding at the back which has been one of the reasons the club hasn’t conceded a goal in the last four games.

Alongside Simon Ferry i think Aden Flint has been the most consistent with his high level of performances this season, Aden staying clear of injures will be a key factor if Town are going to have any success this season.

The other reason has been goalkeeper Wes Foderingham’s arrival at the club on loan from Crystal Palace.

After being released by Fulham Wes was signed by Palace and then loaned out to get first team experience but his four games for Town have been his first in League football.

His best performance came last weekend at Plymouth; making some point blank saves to help Town to another away win.

Currently his deal with Swindon runs out in mid January but its important Town signs the young keeper up for the rest of the season to help our promotion chances.

But being able to sign the keeper on a full time basis would be very difficult with Palace seeing Wes as there number one keeper in the future.

This Saturday Town makes the trip to Stoke to take on Port Vale.

With Vale currently sitting in 9th place in League Two and only one point behind Town this is a massive game for both clubs.

If we win at Vale Park that could move us up to 4th in the table but a defeat could see us move down to 12th and set us back again this season.

With Port Vale being the second highest scorers and conceding the second highest amount of goals in the top half at home the form book says the game should be full of goals.

But with our new concrete wall at the back I’m backing Town to make it seven games unbeaten in all competitions.
