After Town humiliated a team that’s on a 42 game unbeaten run in League One I’m pretty certain we can now say Paolo Di Canio is the real deal.

Personally I knew after watching the Bristol City game in August that Paolo cared for the club and he had something about him that would make him a success in management.

Only last month when we drew 3-3 with Hereford some fans were calling for his exit but now surely its time 100% of the Town faithful gets behind the manager.

It was encouraging to hear the chairman come out during the week and say Paolo isn’t going anywhere after the clubs recent success.

Even if a Championship club did make an approach for Di Canio I can’t see him doing a Dennis Wise and leave, he’d want to finish the job he set out to achieve at the beginning of the season.

There’s only one club he’d leave for at this present time and with the Hammers doing well in the Championship under big Sam I can’t see them come knocking anytime soon.

Last Saturdays performance was easily the best I’ve seen us play in the last 18 months, and that was the 2-1 win over Charlton in the playoff semi finals.

Only one player from that game remains in the Town squad, Simon Ferry was key in that game and again on Saturday he put in another man of the match performance.

It’s amazing that a player of his quality is still in League Two and I hope that if any bids are made in January for Simon that they are quickly rejected.

This Saturday Town travels to the Kingsmeadow Stadium for the first time to take on AFC Wimbledon.

Everyone knows how the AFC Wimbledon story began and I’m pleased to see the club achieve promotion into the Football League after what happened nine years ago.

After a great start to the season that saw Terry Brown’s men enter the automatic promotion places the club has had a big bump back down to earth with the Wombles only winning one of their last nine games.

Swindon’s 700 away ticket allocation is already sold out and a full house is expected to see if Wimbledon can stop Town’s 9 game unbeaten run.

But if last Saturdays performance can be repeated Town will leave with another three points and move closer to the target of the automatic promotion places.
