After 12 weeks, 27 goals scored, 9 against and unbeaten in 15 games the run finally came to an end at Plainmoor to make it a drab Boxing Day for Town fans.

As Swindon fans we are not used to losing on Boxing Day, it’s the first time since 2003.

Over the 90 minutes I don’t think either team really deserved to take all the points but Torquay took their best chance well and we didn’t take full advantage of the few chances on the day.

After being at the club for three months Jake Jervis will now return to parent club Birmingham City to try and force his way into their first team with his loan deal coming to an end, and his absence up front leaves some big shoes to fill.

As it stands Ronan Murray (current loan deal finishing on Jan 14th), Alan Connell, Lukas Magera and Mehdi Kerrouche are the clubs first team striking options.

With top goalscorer Kerrouche out of favour with the manager and not likely to return in the near future, Magera still struggling with niggling injures and lack of form its not looking great at the moment.

Personally as I’ve mentioned in the past I think Alan Connell has all the quality needed to be a top striker in this league, he just needs a run of games in the first team and some faith put in him by Paolo Di Canio.

Ronan Murray looks like a great prospect and has started his Town career brightly and his impact from the bench has been key, but even still a new forward is a must in early January.

Also coming up in January we’ve got Wes Foderingham's loan deal coming to an end.

Last week we looked at Wes’s importance to the first team and yesterday we found out that Swindon & Crystal Palace are in talks over a permanent deal for the goalkeeper, if a deal can be sorted out it would be an incredible deal for Town for the rest of this season and looking forward.

But not all transfer news from this week has been good for Town fans with Liam Ridehaigh going to the Huddersfield due to an injury to the clubs first team left back.

During his time at Town Liam made a massive impression and its a big blow to lose him but it gives Callum Kennedy a big chance at reclaim his place in the first team.

This Saturday Town are again on the road and visit the Sixfields Stadium to play 23rd placed Northampton Town.

After a poor start to the season ex-Yeovil & Bristol City boss Gary Johnson was shown the door by the Cobblers, and Aidy Boothroyd has been brought in to try and save the clubs Football League status.

Despite being in the bottom two Northampton do have players that on their day are top League Two players.

Michael Jacobs is a young talented midfielder with a big future ahead and the clubs top goalscorer Adebayo Akinfenwa who nearly signed for Town back in 2007 is also a handful and has scored 8 goals already this season.

Town’s first game of 2012 takes place at the County Ground on Monday, and the club welcomes AFC Wimbledon for the first time in our history.

We all know the story of how this club was formed back in 2002 and its good to see them making there way up the football ladder, and I can’t wait till we see them in the same league as MK Dons!

On the pitch the Don’s have been having a nightmare after an excellent start that saw them even enter the automatic promotion places.

But this game will still be a good test for Di Canio’s side and keeping Hatton, Jolley and Wellard quiet will be key to us winning the game and keep up our challenge on the top three.
