HAIRY heroes are being sought for the first pet blood bank donor session.
Dog owners are being urged to come along to the session, which will be held on Valentine’s Day.
The Pet Blood Bank charity aims at replenishing much needed stocks of blood for pets in need across the country.
Just one donation can save the life of four dogs.
A spokesman for the charity said: “We collect blood from donors at organised collection sessions in locations throughout the UK.
“The blood donated at these sessions is taken to our state-of-the-art processing unit in Loughborough where it is processed into red blood cells and plasma products.
“It is then stored, ready to be supplied to veterinary practices across the UK.”
In order to give blood at this session, fit and healthy dogs need to meet the following criteria: -Have a good temperament; -Be aged between one and eight years old; -Weigh more than 25 kilos; -Have not travelled outside of the UK; -Be up to date with all vaccinations.
The session will take place at the Vets Now Referrals centre, Unit 10, Berkshire House, County Park, Shrivenham Road, between 1pm and 7pm.
Please help to save a dog’s life by attending the session Call 01509 232 222 to register your dog to attend the session or visit www.petbloodbankuk.org.
