DRIVERS across the county are being warned to take extra care when out and about in icy conditions this morning.
Following the heavy snow fall yesterday evening and rain overnight, roads in Swindon and Wiltshire are proving problematic.
Last night, a spokesman for Wiltshire Police warned drivers to take to the roads only when absolutely essential.
He said: "Due to heavy snow falling, road conditions are becoming extremely dangerous.
"Ice is forming across the County, any unnecessary travel should be avoided.
"Please take extra care, keep safe distances apart and lower your speed at all times."
Meanwhile, gritting teams were working throughout the night to keep roads moving but are also warning of dangerous driving conditions.
