WALKERS in this year’s Starlight Walk will be taking a step back in time to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics.

The annual Prospect Hospice fundraiser, sponsored by Nationwide and now in its fifth year, will have a Best of British theme to mark the two events.

Organisers are asking everyone to dress in clothes from different eras for the occasion, which is on June 30, and they are hoping it will be their biggest walk yet.

Head of fundraising at Prospect Hospice, Sheryl Crouch, said: “Whether that’s post-war glamour, the Swinging Sixties, Land Girls or even harking back to Queen Victoria or Boudicca, it’s all about bringing the best of British to the streets of Swindon.”

Ladies who do not want to dress up are invited to wear the red, white and blue Starlight Walk T-shirt.

Yesterday, the charity’s fundraising team chose outfits from Jumbles, in Crombey Street. Their hair was styled by the JJ’s Hair Group, in Havelock Street Online registrations have opened at www.prospect-hospice.net/Starlight. People who took part in last year’s event can register for £10 during the early bird period. All other walkers can get early bird discount until March 19. After that, registration is £15 and closes on June 4.
