Hospital scores high on patient satisfaction

BMI The Ridgeway Hospital, in Wroughton, has been awarded an overall satisfaction score of 98.6 per cent by its patients who rated its overall quality of care.

The independent survey, conducted by market research firm Howard Warwick Associates, was carried out during the whole of 2011. The hospital received 1,484 completed patient questionnaires throughout that period.

The survey measured patient satisfaction across a range of criteria including patients’ overall impression of admission, consultant care, imaging (X-ray), anaesthetists, theatre staff, accommodation and whether patients were treated with respect and dignity. Overall nursing care received a rating of 97.8 percent.

The hospital employs 220 people and works with 95 consultants. Its specialties are orthopaedics, gynaecology, urology and general surgery.

James Lowe, executive director, said: “The team here continually strive to provide our patients with the highest standards of care and appreciate the positive feedback from our patients as a reward for our efforts.

“We are all very proud of our hospital and we make it our priority to work hard to make each patient’s time with us as comfortable as possible. Our patient survey is an important indicator of how well we achieve this and we monitor results closely.

“Today’s result is something to be very pleased about; however we need to make sure we build on this for 2012.”
