A BLANKET of Snow may have covered Swindon yesterday but it was business as usual for commuters, pupils and motorists.
Snowflakes started falling at about 8pm on Thursday and temperatures dropped to below freezing, leaving the town covered in about 3cm of snow.
Patches will remain over the weekend but Swindon is not likely to get any more snow in the next few days, according to the Met Office.
A spokesman said: “On Saturday temperatures will struggle to get much higher than one or two degrees. It will be reasonably cold on Saturday night but a bit warmer by Sunday.
“There is a chance there could be some ice. With temperatures getting up a little bit the snow does melt and then when the temperature falls back down to minus it freezes.”
All schools were open and transport services were running as usual.
Swindon Town’s League Two fixture at Barnet today has, however, been called off following a pitch inspection at Underhill.

I am reliably informed it was minus 15 on Salisbury Plain Thursday night. Shame our Military aren't as prepared as above.

Nothing puerile, sympathetic to your plight.
