WITH the total of jobless people between the ages of 16 to 24 rising, the issue of youth unemployment is one of the nation’s highest priorities.
Unemployed young people in Swindon will soon have a new option to help them. Local youth development charity Inner Flame will be working with youth charity The Prince’s Trust to deliver their 12-week team programme.
Participants will get involved in team-building activities, a week-long residential trip, a community project and two weeks of work experience during the course. They will also get advice on how to write CVs as well as gaining a nationally recognised qualification through a partnership with Swindon College.
Graham Moates, trustee of Inner Flame, will be delivering the first programme, scheduled to start on March 19.
He said: “Too many young people feel they don’t have the skills and talents to succeed in life. The Team programme really does help them turn their lives around.”
Co-founder David Wreathall said: “Inner Flame has been looking for a way to help unemployed young people, and we are delighted to have been selected by The Prince’s Trust as their local delivery partner. We’re looking forward to building on our working relationship with Swindon College.”
