POOLE and Lakeside will pay tribute to Lee Richardson when the two sides meet in the Elite League at Wimborne Road tonight.

It will be the first meeting for the Hammers since news broke of their skipper’s tragic death, and he was also a former Pirates rider.

Poole chief Matt Ford said: “We informed Stuart Douglas and Jon Cook that we would go along with their requests. If they wanted to postpone the meeting we would be happy to do so.

“By holding the meeting it does allow us the opportunity to collectively mourn the passing of one our brethren, one of our much appreciated speedway family. A lad who gave so much to the sport.

“We will do our very best to make it a fitting tribute to Lee. He was the first rider I brought to the club and so there is always a special place for him in my heart.”
