Mayor and mayoress Mick and Ruth Bray with the litter pickers at McDonald’s in Wharf Green
A COMMUNITY clean-up operation has rid the town centre of unsightly litter.
Local McDonald’s franchisee Paul Booth and staff from the McDonald’s restaurants in Swindon joined members of the public for the litter pick.
Held in support of Keep Britain Tidy’s Love Where You Live campaign, the McDonald’s tidy team were joined by Mayor of Swindon Mick Bray and Nythe Primary. The crew of 35 volunteers filled 11 bags of litter.
Paul and his McDonald’s crew members will be holding a further two large scale litter events in Swindon in the coming weeks, with the help of Westlea Primary School on June 26 and Oakhurst Primary School in July.
Paul said: “Love Where You Live is an effective way of making a positive difference to the area. It was inspiring to see members of the community join forces to take action on litter that damages our environment.
“Unfortunately there are still a significant proportion of people who think it’s acceptable to drop litter – it’s everyone’s responsibility and through these events we wanted to generate awareness of the issue and educate those people on how to dispose of rubbish properly.”

Maybe McDonalds would like to go round every road and collect the almost inevitable brown paper bag stuffed with their packaging that you will find there. Or better still stop selling this ratfood to every other idiot in town
It's not the shops spreading litter, it's the morons that drop it.
