Charity's bouncy castle is stolen

THIEVES have made off with a Purton charity's bouncy castle.

Purton Helping Hand Carnival chairman Kevin Law said the thieves stole the bouncy castle, its trailer and petrol generator from where it was parked in a committee member's yard in the village on Monday night.

Mr Law said the bouncy castle - which is 6.6m long, 5.3m wide and 4.4m high - was used to raise money for the carnival.

The money then goes to helping the disabled and disadvantaged in the village.

Mr Law said the theft had been reported to the police.

"The bouncy castle was donated to the Purton Helping Hand Club by the Pest - Purton Extreme Sports Team," he said.

"The bouncy castle is branded with the Purton Helping Hand Club and the Pest name and logo.

"It is mainly used the Purton Helping Hand Carnival within carnival week that next year will run from Saturday, May 26 until Saturday, June 2.

"We're all hoping for the safe return of the bouncy castle."

Purton Helping Hand Club was established in 1963 to help the sick and those in need of help, of all ages, within Purton and Purton Stoke.

Their work includes taking small gifts to adults and toys and books to children who are unwell. both at home and in hospital. They have also helped with dialysis machines, heart-monitoring machines and wheelchairs.
