THE manager of the town centre McDonald’s is hoping for an Olympic performance as he heads to London to play his part in the Games.

Chris Lawrence, 24, is going to be the business manager of the McDonald’s restaurant in the heart of the Olympics’ Athlete Village.

The 24-hour tented restaurant in the Village will serve the world’s top athletes when they are feeling peckish, and Chris is hoping to bump into world record sprinter Usain Bolt, who has been reported to like his chicken nuggets.

“It would be great to meet all of the athletes if they come in,” he said. “I am really excited about the prospect.”

McDonald’s will also have a 3,000 square-metre restaurant built in Stratford, east London for the event, stretched over two floors and equivalent to half the length of an American football field.

The restaurant will have with 1,500 seats and will employ 470 staff to serve 50,000 Big Macs, 100,000 portions of fries and 30,000 milkshakes during the London Games.

Chris has worked for McDonald’s for eight years and been manager of the town centre restaurant for two-and-a-half years. He had to go through a number of interview processes including a team building exercise where he had to guide his team to put up a tent up while they were blindfolded.

He said: “It is definitely a once in a life time experience and I am really looking forward to it.”
