IT was all about giving and thinking about others when children at Grange Junior School held their harvest festival.

The youngsters brought in sweets and toys as part of the annual event before they broke up for half-term.

And the goodies will now go towards filling shoeboxes for those less fortunate around the globe.

Last year pupils, staff and parents at the Stratton St Margaret school collected more than 200 shoeboxes full of special gifts for children in Eastern European and African countries for the charity, Operation Christmas Child which aims to spread a Christian message.

And this year they are aiming for a similar level of success. Since it began in 1990, Operation Christmas Child has brought joy to more than 47 million boys and girls. The idea is to fill ordinary shoeboxes with small toys, school supplies, sweets, and other gifts.
