Fire at gas works in Gipsy Lane - UPDATED

FIREFIGHTERS are at the scene of a blaze at the gas works, in Gipsy Lane.
The fire saw flames reaching up to 15ft in the air and it is thought the cause is a hole in the gas works structure.
Crews have extinguished the fire and remain on the scene. Police have closed the road due to smoke across the carriageway which is reducing visibility for drivers.
Bystanders and passers-by have been told to stay inside Wickes, which is on the opposite side of the road, for their own safety.
