A FARM which has been run by the same family for more than 50 years is celebrating winning two awards for the outstanding quality of its bangers and bacon.

Hinton Marsh Farm in Bourton, near South Marston, landed gold in two categories of this year’s national Great Taste Awards for its dry-cured bacon and plain traditional sausage.

The awards, organised by the Guild of Fine Food, have been described as the Oscars of the food world and the Great Taste logo is intended as a mark of a quality, local retailer.

The food is judged by three different panels at three different venues. More than 8,800 products were entered this year from more than 2,500 companies.

The family-run farm is situated at the foot of the Wiltshire Chalkdownlands and offers free-range beef, pork, chicken and lamb.

Rebecca Jones, daughter of owner Stanley Jones, said: “It feels great to add to our collection of awards and that our hard work has been recognised along with the quality of our produce. It’s good for our customers too that they are enjoying award-winning food.”

The family has a knowledge of farming stretching back to the 1600s and uses a slow-growing approach to animals and poultry The farm, which has a stall at the Designer Outlet on Sundays, also has an on-site butcher.

The produce can also be bought at the Lotmead Farm shop, in Wanborough, and the Harrrow Inn.

“We follow a traditional approach and grow our own food for our animals,” Miss Jones said.

“Everything is home-made to ensure the quality and is made with love.”
