SATURDAYS penalty woes were all but forgotten late on Tuesday night as Town blew Crawley away to extend the clubs unbeaten home record to over a year.

Since our defeat to the club that cannot be named, our home league record reads as P 22 W 19 D 3 L 0.

An incredible record whatever level of football your competing at, hopefully with a home record as impress as that we will see larger crowds as the season progresses at the County Ground.

After not speaking to the local media for a few days Paolo Di Canio was full of praise for his squad, praising their unity on the pitch and declared the performance the best he’s seen since he arrived last May.

It was a near complete performance from Town on Tuesday night; Aden Flint came in for the missing Troy Archibald-Henville and was solid, as we’ve come to expect.

It was also good to see the clubs longest serving player Simon Ferry making a return to the first team this season.

His partnership with Tommy Miller was the focal point; Miller could be the perfect midfield partner for Ferry, something that’s been missing from the squad since Jonathan Douglas moved on last summer.

James Collins made his home league debut for the club and linked up well with Williams up front.

Both strikers have bundles of ability and if they play to their full potential you could see them both scoring over 20 goals this season.

Once again Paul Caddis wasn’t involved in the squad for the third game running, I’m not sure if its now a case of he’s not match fit or weather his falling out with Paolo Di Canio is now unfixable.

Whatever the reasons its essential for team spirit and future fixtures its sorted out soon, either Caddis is moved on or they kiss and make up.

Joe Devera has come in and done a very good job but he is no Paul Caddis going forward.

Matt Ritchie seemed to linked up well with Devera well for the first time on Tuesday night, but it’s the Ritchie and Caddis partnership that will be key for large parts of this season.

This weekend Town welcome MK Dons to the County Ground, which for Swindon is the clubs local derby this season.

With both Bristol clubs, Oxford, Reading and Cheltenham all in different divisions, the clubs local derby is a strange one this upcoming season.

The game also has the extra edge with MK Dons being one of Town’s rivals for promotion this season.

Former Swindon youth team player Karl Robinson has built a good squad over his tenure at the club, and unfortunately its hard not to see them being involved in the top 6 for most of the season.

The game will be one of the toughest Paolo Di Canio has taken charge of over his time at the club.

But after such a resounding win on Tuesday the players know if they reproduce that sort of display MK will have no response.
