A TALENTED teenager is hoping to hit all the right notes when she performs at the regional final of a talent competition.

Charlie-Anne Bradfield, 13, who only started playing the guitar in October, is through to the regional final showcase of Open Mic UK Live and Unsigned after impressing the judges during an audition in Bristol.

The Dorcan Academy pupil, who performs her own songs and covers, performed at the Wharf Green Olympic Opening Ceremony, Swindon Pride and The Big Arts Day earlier this year.

“I love being on the stage. I used to get nervous but now I don’t get that feeling at all,” she said.

“I played my own song, Pretty Boy, for the audition. I was with four other people and we took it in turns. Once we finished they took us into another room and told us.

“We were all friends there and we were all supporting each other.”

Charlie-Anne, of Nythe , has been learning the guitar with The Guitar School, in Old Town , and was inspired to start singing lessons shortly afterwards.

She is hoping taking part in the competition will help her to become a singer and songwriter.

“I want to keep on writing songs and I want people to listen to my music. I want as much feedback as possible so I can keep on improving and see where it takes me,” she said.

“I have got so many good friends and family that are always supporting me. They tell me if they don’t like it. I think of it as constructive criticism.

“If I get ideas I write them down and try and link them in.”

Charlie-Anne’s favourite band is Oasis and she enjoys performing covers of their songs.

Open Mic UK searches for the UK’s best singers, singer/songwriters, rappers and vocalists of all genres who can perform either covers or original songs.

If Charlie-Anne gets through to the next round she will be in with the chance of performing in the final at the O2 Arena in London.

Charlie-Anne will be busking outside Sainsbury’s, in Stratton , on Saturday and Sunday from 10am until 2pm. She will be raising money for Open Door, which is Sainsbury’s charity of the year.

The regional final takes place on September 30 at St Georges in Bristol. For tickets, at £8, visit www.facebook.com/CharlieAnneUK .
