WHEN Town traveled up to Preston last week everybody involved in the club was still on a high after the fantastic result from the Britannia Stadium.

And after just 21 minutes at Deepdale the circus that seems to surround the club at certain points started to unpack the big top tent and the clowns started to put their make up on.

Paolo Di Canio has been fantastic for Swindon Town, which is undeniable.

From the style of football that he has woven into the fabric of the club, to his incredible passion which is refreshing to see after being managed by figures like Paul Hart and Maurice Malpas in recent years.

But like every manager he does have his weaknesses.

And they were plain for all to see last Sunday at Preston.

After the business with Clarke, Kerrouche, Caddis and now Foderingham, we really shouldn’t have been surprised by any of his antics on the day.

He rules with an iron fist, it doesn’t matter if we like it or not, that’s how he will always manage Swindon Town.

It’s not perfect by any means, but personally I love the Di Canio era at Town, after all the disappointments of the past, it’s a breath of fresh air.

In football there has been plenty of yes men, but every now and again someone comes along who is different, that doesn’t fit the mould.

And I think we are blessed to have this man at Swindon Town.

The action on the pitch was also uncomfortable to watch, it was easily the worst performance under Di Canio’s management.

Especially the first half display, they looked a shadow of the team that beat a mid-table Premier League side just five days previously.

We all knew our excellent start would come to an end at some point, but this certainly was a massive fall from grace.

But thankfully Paolo and Wes have cleared the air and the club can move on with the rest of the season.

After the disappointments of the past week Town now have a big chance to get back to winning ways this weekend.

This Saturday we welcome winless Leyton Orient to the County Ground.

Of course no team in League One can be taken lightly, Orient have a few handy players that could hurt Town.

Striker David Mooney, who once scored against us in the League One playoff semi's for Charlton.

Midfielder Dean Cox can cause any team a problem on his day and former QPR midfielder Martin Rowlands, who signed on a short-term deal recently.

And not forgetting a top player during his time at Town, Scott Cuthbert makes his return a year and a bit after his departure from the County Ground.

But despite their experienced squad we have a lot more in our arsenal that can hurt Orient going forward, even without Matt Ritchie, who is still not ready for a first team return.

Hopefully James Collins will return to partner Andy Williams up front, and we will see a start for Bostock, either out wide or centrally in midfield.

If we play our own style of football and not get dragged down to our opponents level, a handsome win should be in line for Di Canio’s side.
