Take tour through past with Rodbourne History Group

THE Rodbourne Community History Group has been invited to mount a display at the Steam Railway Festival.

The festival runs at the Steam Museum, in Rodbourne, on Saturday and Sunday, between 10am and 5pm.

It is now in its 11th year and will see displays of 20 of the country’s finest GWR and BR layouts.

Celebrity modeller and pop music legend Pete Waterman will also be at the show.

In addition to the display, the history group is running guided history tours around the old GWR Swindon Works buildings, on the site of the Swindon Designer Outlet, and also around the streets of Rodbourne on both days.

The Rodbourne tour will start at 10am from the yellow crane in the Western Mall of the shopping centre and will last about two hours.

The GWR tour will start at 2pm from Steam and last about 90 minutes.

Booking is essential. Contact Gordon Shaw on 01793 616558.
