WHEN asked about his teams performance last Saturday Paolo Di Canio quickly responded with a damning response, “This is the worst, especially at home”.

After the disasters of Preston and O****d away, hopes were high inside the County Ground before Town took on Leyton Orient.

We were expecting to see the same Town side that beat pre-season title favourites MK Dons and Crawley.

But instead we watched Town looking disorganized and not able to compete with a team who sat 23rd in League One.

Of course this isn’t a new trend that has started under Di Canio, in the past we’ve seen Town beat some of the best sides in the League then lose to bottom of the table.

But this was the first time under Paolo at home where we let ourselves sink to the level of our opponents.

Personally I didn’t understand why Simon Ferry was on the bench, Navarro and Miller seem to be very similar players, both like to win back the ball and let someone else take it forward.

Without Ferry we seemed to lack any creativity, It was also a rare poor performance from Aden Flint.

Since he joined the club and he started to play regularly, their haven’t been many players who have been as consistent as Flint, I’m confident he’ll be back on form this Saturday.

With the club only being five games into the new season, there is still no need to panic, after five games last season we sat in 21st place!

I find it strange that some fans are questioning Di Canio already; I think some fans forget that Town is his first job; he’s still in the infancy of a long managerial career.

But when he does get it right like last season, we came away with a League Championship and 90 minutes away from winning the Football League Trophy.

Saturday brings us the longest trip of the season - the 538 mile round trip to Carlisle, who sit just behind us in the table.

Thankfully we haven’t had a game in the past week, meaning Paolo and his team have had the time to get back to the drawing board with his side.

This game is key under the management of Di Canio, to see if he can once again turn around a bad spell, but this time taking on much better opponents.

So lets hope we see the return of the Town side that beat Stoke City and not the one who surrendered at Preston.
