Swindon shares festival event around the UK

A BIG thank you has been given to everyone who made the Bandstand Marathon at Queens Park a huge success at the weekend.

The Bandstand Marathon was a national event to mark the closing of the London 2012 Festival, the Olympics and Paralympics.

More than 500 major towns and cities in the UK joined together in spirit and simultaneously held concerts from 1pm to 5pm on Sunday in their regions to celebrate in style.

The event helped raise awareness of the Queens Park Community Council, which is keeping Queens Park’s cafe and entertainment space alive.

It also raised £435 for Swindon Carers’ Centre.

Musicians and artists came out in support and gave their time, equipment and expertise to ensure the event succeeded.
