A SMITTEN commuter has placed a message in a national newspaper to find a rookie First Great Western worker.

Cupid’s arrow struck for one passenger who developed a gay crush on the Stroud Valley Line between Swindon and Cheltenham earlier this week.

The message said the male member of staff looked ‘hot’ in the company’s uniform.

So hot, in fact, that the admirer left a message promising to save their crush a seat.

It read: “To the male First Great Western staff member learning the Stroud Valley line between Swindon and Cheltenham on Monday and Tuesday this week: you look hot in your uniform.

“You caught my eye when you sat opposite me in coach E.

“I hope you’re on the same train tomorrow, I'll save you a seat.”

The message appeared in the Metro yesterday and was no doubt read by thousands of commuters making the journey to and from London Paddington.

The sender described himself as the ‘guy with the iPad in seat 60’.

It appeared among other romantic messages from rush-hour commuters.

First Great Western trains from Swindon may conjure images of the morning rush hour but the company does provide the setting for more romantic moments.

It runs the Pullman service with silver service dining between London and the West Country.

Swindon itself has also shown its soppy side in the past with amorous messages broadcast onto the Big Screen at Wharf Green.

In the run-up to Valentine’s Day people were able to tweet, text or email messages of love onto the giant London 2012 display.

The screen emerged as one of the most popular in the country, with approximately 100 messages love screened as well as at least 10 proposals of marriage.

A spokesman for First Great Western declined to comment on the message.
