Swindon fundraiser an acoustic feast for music fans

ACOUSTIC artists will be showing off their skills to raise money for Swindon Carers Centre and Goldenhar Family Support UK tomorrow.

The Running Horse, in Wootton Bassett Road, is hosting Acoustics in the Garden Fest from noon. Following on from the success of Bandstand Marathon at Queens Park earlier this month, Brian Keen, in partnership with Swindon Carers Centre has been spurred on to organise another fundraising event.

Melanie Stanbury, chairwoman of community fundraising at the centre, said: “It’s always a challenge trying to compete for funds with national charities operating out of Swindon, but we’ve found that by creating great entertainment and celebrating musical talent in Swindon, we are encouraging more people here to get involved with fundraising.”

The line up on the day includes Benji Clements from noon, Albion from 12.30pm, Jenny Bracey from 1pm, Billy Jon from 1.30pm, Alice Offley from 2pm, Jim Blair from 2.45pm, Bataleurs from 3.30pm, Ethemia from 4.15pm, Ali Finneran from 5pm, Ellie Ponting from 5.30pm, and Dylan Qioniwasa from 6pm. More acts will play from 6.30pm until 11pm.

“Swindon Carers Centre and Goldenhar Family Support UK are overwhelmed by the generosity of local businesses supporting this event,” said Melanie. “We have some phenomenal prizes, including spa treatments from The De Vere and The Marriot; drum and guitar lessons from Ultimate Tuition; a guitar with accessories donated by Alan Holmes of Holmes Music and founder of Goldenhar Family Support (UK); Champagne from Honda and gift vouchers from Tesco.”
