KETTLES will be whistling tomorrow morning as more people than ever across the town raise a mug for Macmillan Cancer Support.

A total of 280 schools, businesses, cafes and fundraisers are taking part in the annual World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in a bid to raise hundreds of pounds for the charity.

Tea, coffee and cakes will be available at the events in exchange for a donation to the charity.

Macmillan Support Wiltshire manager Daniel McNally said: “We have about 100 more than we did last year.

“It is one of the best fundraising events because anyone can come along and enjoy one. “It is a great event to come along to because you can enjoy it and raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.”

Among those taking part is Coral bookmakers, in the West Swindon Centre, where deputy manager, Scott Gough, is ditching his Coral uniform and dressing as the Incredible Hulk to tie in with the green colours of the Macmillan charity from 10am.

The shop will be decorated in Macmillan banners and balloons and will also have a selection of cakes and cupcakes.

Scott said: “We’re really looking forward to welcoming everyone in the area to our fantastic coffee morning in support of Macmillan Cancer Support.

“We intend to have a fun-filled morning with lots of freshly bakes cakes and cupcakes. “Everyone’s welcome, the more the merrier – and what better opportunity to have a laugh on us and see me dressed up as the Incredible Hulk.”

About 1,100 coffee mornings are taking place across Wiltshire.

Buildstore in Lydiard fields is hosting public coffee mornings, inviting the community to enjoy cake and tea in exchange for a donation to Macmillan nurses.

The event at Buildstore is opening from 8am until lunchtime for anyone to drop in.

Pinetrees Community Centre will be hosting its own coffee morning as part of the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. The event is being organised by the Pinetrees Community Centre Association and the Pinetrees cafe.

The coffee morning will run from 10am until 1pm with the option for people to have a few games of bingo from noon until 1pm.
