A TALENTED teenager has hit the high notes to make it through to the area final of a competition.

Charlie-Anne Bradfield, 13, who performs her own songs and covers, is through to the area final showcase of Open Mic UK Live and Unsigned after impressing the judges at the weekend.

The Dorcan Academy pupil, who only started playing the guitar last October, will perform at the area final in Reading on December 3.

She was also given an award for the best original song at the regional final on Sunday.

“I love being on the stage. I used to get nervous but now I don’t get that feeling at all,” she said.

Charlie-Anne, of Nythe, has been learning the guitar with The Guitar School, in Old Town, and was inspired to start singing lessons shortly afterwards.

She performed at the Wharf Green Olympic Opening Ceremony, Swindon Pride and The Big Arts Day earlier this year.

“I have got so many good friends and family that are always supporting me. They tell me if they don’t like it. I think of it as constructive criticism,” she said.

Open Mic UK searches for the UK’s best singers, singer/songwriters, rappers and vocalists of all genres who can perform either covers or original songs.

If Charlie-Anne gets through to the next round she will be in with the chance of performing in the final at the O2 Arena in London.
