Jahmene tells us: Faith is my X Factor

X FACTOR star Jahmene Douglas will be praying for a good performance as he prepares for the live finals of the competition.
The Swindon singer says that he feels like he is living in a bubble after his life was flipped upside down when he made it through on Sunday night.
The 21-year-old was picked as one of judge Nicole Sherzinger’s boys for the live shows – and he says that his faith is helping him to keep his feet on the ground.
“It feels like a bubble at the moment it is the only way I can describe it,” he said.
“Usually you are looking from outwards in on something like this but now I am in it looking out.
“My faith and my mum especially has brought me up with respectful values which helps me keep my feet grounded.
“I do miss being home and my family but because singing is something I need to do I am doing this.”
The former New College student has been adapting to life living in the contestants’ house and being away from friends and family in Swindon.
The young singer has been getting spotted in the streets by fans and his Twitter and Facebook accounts have exploded since his first appearance back in August.
“Every second, or every minute, there is a new follower or tweet and I try to reply to them all but it is so hard,” he continued.
“The support has been amazing. You dream of these things and I am just trying to take it all in.”
The Swindon Talent 2010 winner won over his group’s mentor, Pussycat Dolls star Scherzinger, with his rendition of DJ David Guetta’s Titanium – booking his place in the live shows on Saturday, which is set to be watched by millions around the country.
Jahmene watched that judges’ houses episode with the other 12 live finalists in the house and, ever modest, he says it is not easy watching himself back on the television.
He said: “It makes me cringe every time I watch it.
“I was watching it with everyone else, but I don’t like watching myself on there, it always makes me cringe.”

What has what goes on in our courts got to do with a local young man who does have an amazing talent?
It would be nice to see a local rise to fame for doing something he really loves doing and does it well.
Fame and fortune is just a passing thing--words sung by the late great Elvis Presley--a man who changed music. Get behind our guy--who knows what can happen.

You clearly didn't read my comment properly then!
I think there is something like 7 or 8 "news" articles (including duplicates) in the last 3 days on this one individual taking part in a talent show.
The comment was clearly aimed at the adver and their poor grasp of what actually constitutes news. The advers consistent failure to actually follow up on real news stories that impact peoples lives. The criminal justice system is one such issue; their are many others.

not miserable at all, I just have a different take on life to you and in the same way as you want other people to respect your opinions you need to respect theirs, theres a first... And sorry but I cant stand Elvis Presley but good luck if you do. Get a life.

Opinions vary on most subjects. Talent is talent which ever way we choose to think. Elvis without doubt was a great talent whether you like it or not because his popularity has stood the test of time.
Rarely do we have--here in Swindon a young man with a rendition of a great song by a very respected female singer which raised the roof at his audition.
It is debatable if he could win the contest as his voice does not cover a wide enough range--but could very well have great success in his niche.
Sadly it becomes obvious you cannot accept that some artists have given millions great pleasure through their songs.
Let us all hope that this young man can go on to success--even if he does not win the contest as he has already touched the hearts of many--i wish him all the best.

talent is in the eye of the beholder or listener. there are prorbaly the same number or people who think Phil Collins is brilliant as those who think he is crap so what does that tell you? its about choice and I choose not to think some people are talented and I am also not taken in by the falsehood of programmes like the x factor. At least Elvis worked hard for his fame and fortune rather than having it handed to him on a plate like the contestants do nowadays. So this young man sang one song on a particualr night and lots of people liked it, sorry that doesnt mean he has "talent" just that some people liked what he did at that paticular moment.
The whole thing is fake and if thats how you like your entertainment then good luck to you, perosnally I dont and prefer realism and hard work and intelligence which is not easy to find in this sad shallow world where what you look like seems to be more imprtant than who you are underneath and people strive for intant fame and fortune instead of wanting to actually work for a living. Very sad society we are becoming.

What a very sad person you are to attack groups as you have in what is simply a rant--mentally ill?--deluded--ugly.
These shows have produced some great singers and the other show has produced some great acts in the variety world.
Susan Boyle being just one example- there are hundreds who never won-but folk fill venues wherever they appear--that tells me they have a talent which has been recognised.
How many good singers you must have missed in these shows. Maybe you missed the obese young man the judges told to dump his partner-they refused-he reached the finals and have a very successful album. Paul Potts is another who reached great success--my goodness--seems you cannot recognise talent when it is staring you in the face.
Do take more time to compose your comments as it is full of mispellings and missed words.
As for Jahmene-without doubt he will record--you can guarantee it.

The Adver insistence on not properly categorising articles and the repeated publishing of stories is ridiculous. It reduces the focus on real news and stifles debate.
As good a performer as he may be; and he probably is very good; the media's (local and national) constant chasing of celebrity status and gossip is one of the causes for the breakdown in society as many of todays youngsters look for an easy route to fame and fortune.
Just count the number articles over the last week focusing on this one individual compared to "real" news stories about the happenings around Swindon.
Why so much focus on trying to win a talent contest; when there is so little focus on trying to highlight failings in the criminal justice system; such as the giving of suspended sentences for violent crime to people already on suspended sentences for violent crime!
