Dazzling dance show
1:06pm Thursday 4th October 2012 in News
After the success of last year’s Declarations, the Phoenix Dance Theatre returns to Swindon next week with its new show, Crossing Points.
Originally from Leeds, this specialist contemporary dance company was set up in 1981 by David Hamilton, Donald Edwards and Vilmore James, after they were inspired by their teachers John Auty and Nadine Senior.
In its 30-year history, PDT has set up classes for children and adults, as well as a company class for professional dancers with at least three years of vocational training.
Phoenix Dance Theatre has also set up a Youth Academy made up of passionate dancers aged 15 to 19 who meet twice a week to practice technique and performance skills.
The company’s programme at the Wyvern on Tuesday at 7.30pm will include four contrasting pieces of contemporary dance – Ana Luján Sánchez’s Catch, Sound Clash by Kwesi Johnson, Henri Oguike’s Signal and a final chance to see Aletta Collins’ Maybe Yes Maybe, Maybe No Maybe. Tickets are £16 and £10 for students. See www.wyverntheatre.org.uk – LUCY TOMPKINS
