THE owners of a cockapoo puppy have pleaded for his safe return after he vanished last week – and have even offered a reward.

Ten-month-old pup JT, named after Chelsea captain John Terry, went missing from the front garden of his home in Royal Wootton Bassett last Friday night, leading his owner Lorraine Taylor to frantically search for him and put up posters – and leaving her grandchildren heartbroken.

She has even reported the missing dog to police, fearing he had been stolen – and friends and family have helped search for JT, a poodle-cocker spaniel cross, in his favourite walking places, including the town’s Jubilee Lake.

JT has also been registered missing with the Wiltshire Council dog warden, the national pet register and on other websites.

The family has only had him for around eight months and he cost £750, and Lorraine said she wanted her beloved pet back.

The 55-year-old Chelsea fan said: “I was so upset when I realised he had gone missing. “It was about 6.10pm when I realised and I had the tumble-dryer going and the garage door open. He has been in the front garden before and he never goes far away so it’s really out of character. “I was just waiting for the phone to ring because he is chipped and has a collar on so if anyone found him they could contact us.

“It’s been a week now and I’ve put up about 60 posters in the area and the vets but nothing. “My grandchildren are really upset because they loved him and don’t understand what’s happened.

“We would be putting up a reward because we want him back but I don’t know how much it will be yet – I haven’t thought about it.

“My son said perhaps someone is holding him and waiting for some money – I don’t care, I just want him back.”

Her husband David, who called police late on Friday evening, said the breed was highly-valued.

“These dogs have a brilliant temperament and one big thing is they don’t lose any hair,” he said.

“They can go for anything between £700 to £900 and I believe he may have been stolen.”

JT is quite distinctive with curly light brown hair.
