OWNERSHIP of all hospitals and health centres in Wiltshire will transfer to the Great Western Hospital, Swindon, or a new NHS property company.

The transfer will happen as a result of the abolition of NHS Wiltshire in April 2013. At a board meeting last month NHS Wiltshire agreed to transfer buildings used for clinical services to Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The trust already provides community health services in Wiltshire.

Ownership of buildings that will transfer to GWH include Devizes Hospital, Chippenham Hospital, Savernake Hospital, Calne Health Centre and Corsham Family Health Centre.

Properties that are occupied by administrative staff, are surplus to requirements or soon to be surplus will become the ownership of the NHS Property Services Ltd. These include Devizes Clinic in New Park Street, which is closed, and greenfield land off Marshall Road, Devizes, that was earmarked for a Primary Care Centre.

Southgate House, in Pans Lane, Devizes, the headquarters of NHS Wiltshire will also transfer to the new property company.

As well as NHS Wiltshire staff, also working at Southgate House are staff at Wiltshire Clinical Commissioning Group, which takes over from NHS Wiltshire.
